Giving as a Family Affair

In the second episode of Giving Done Right season two, CEP’s Phil Buchanan and Grace Nicolette talk with Julie Aleman, philanthropist and executive director of the Younger Family Fund. Julie discusses her experience giving alongside family members, the insights she’s gained from working on both sides of fundraising and grantmaking, and how families can foster a culture of generosity that carries through to the next generation.

Julie Aleman is executive director of the Younger Family Fund. She’s interested in connecting with other funders and nonprofit leaders to discuss how to be more equitable in giving and how to listen well to nonprofits. Her former experience includes research and design thinking at Stanford University’s Effective Philanthropy Learning Initiative, philanthropy portfolio strategy, capital campaign management, major gifts fundraising, and annual campaign management. Julie lives in San Francisco with her husband and two daughters.
